Posted by Jason Duncan on May 4, 2017 9:40:37 PM

I get it. You're skeptical. We all are to one degree or another. If there is no skepticism in us at all, that makes us gullible–and no one wants to be gullible.

Since we launched our company back in 2010, we've completed well over 50 large commercial building LED retrofits. As a matter of fact, four of our projects were the largest LED retrofits in the world at the time. Wow!

The Hidden Cost of Free Lighting Audits

Posted by Jason Duncan on Apr 3, 2017 9:00:00 AM

If you own or operate a commercial building, it is very likely you have either looked into retrofitting to LEDs or had a company call on you to talk to you about doing it. In order to have an LED retrofit conducted in your building, the first step is getting an audit performed. Posted by Jason Duncan on Mar 27, 2017 5:06:01 PM

Don't you love late night infomercials? From knives that will cut a tennis shoe in half to the amazing Snuggie. Each of these irresistible commercials has a pitch man (or woman) who makes the item they're pitching seem like an absolute need for survival in life.

Then, just when you're beginning to believe the pitch, they hit you with the low cost. "Heck, it is only $19.95 a month for the next 18 months." You're getting the urge to buy. Then they say that phrase we have all heard a million time: "But wait, there's more!"

What's wrong with Electrical Engineers and Electrical Contractors?

Posted by Jason Duncan on Mar 6, 2017 6:21:52 PM

Most people don't ever think about lighting. It's just there. You flip the switch and your lights burst forth with the necessary lumens to help you do your tasks.

Stop for a second and look up and around? How many lights and/or light fixtures do you see? What about the parking lot outside your office? How many parking lot pole lights and/or wallpack lights do you see? Are any of them unnecessary? Is it too dark in some places?

Odds are that person was not trained or certified specifically in lighting, much less trained or certified in energy efficient lighting design. What's wrong with electrical engineers and electrical contractors?

Low Bid Lighting Is 6x More Expensive

Posted by Jason Duncan on Feb 3, 2017 11:16:56 AM

It makes sense on the surface: go with the low bid on your lighting package when you're building a new commercial building. They're just lights, after all. Who cares? Actually, those low bid lights can cost you as much as 6x more than you think. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, commercial buildings' lighting systems consume as much as 42% of the total electricity month over month. Making a bad decision on something that uses that much electricity can be detrimental to your ongoing operating costs.
